The Type of Wood Matters

Homeowners as well as businesses face several decisions when considering any new fencing solution.  Our goal at Titan is to make the proper recommendations to suit the needs of each individual client. The first decision is always the type of wood.  A fence constructed from high-quality materials is your best defense against the elements. Overtime, the harsh Texas weather can exact considerable damage to a fence.   Our experts at Titan use only high-quality fence supplies and materials that resist extreme weather conditions including moisture, temperature and humidity.  Replacing your fence is an investment in your future and will add value to a home or business.

According to the International Association of Certified Home Builders, a wood fence has an approximate lifespan of about 20 years with regular maintenance. A fence’s life expectancy can be increased significantly if you pay more up front for a high-quality wood. Here are a few of the species that tend to hold up better than others:

Western Red Cedar      White Oak      Pressure Treated Pine      Plastic Lumber

Play Area Fencing

With the growth we are experiencing in North Texas new play areas for our children are popping up all over.  Many of these kid friendly locations need fencing to keep our children safe.  At Titan Fence we recommend a variety of fence types that prevent kids from running out in busy streets or just keep them confined in a specific area whether it is for a school or athletic venue.

A medium height chain link fence is most commonly used around school play yards.  Black ornamental-iron fencing is more appealing and is widely used for HOA’s around pools to either keep kids in or out.  This option is more expensive that chain link but increases the value of neighborhoods and community pools.  Titan has provided fencing for athletic fields, schools and home owners associations in McKinney, Frisco, Savanah and Little Elm.

Horizontal Fences

Tax Tips Regarding Your New Fence

Have you purchased a new fence from Titan this year? Did you know that the expense may be tax deductible? Which Home Improvements Are Tax Deductible?
For tax purposes, a home improvement includes any work done that substantially adds to the value of your home, increases its useful life, or adapts it to new uses. These include room additions, new bathrooms, decks, FENCING, landscaping, wiring upgrades, walkways, driveway, kitchen upgrades, plumbing upgrades, and new roofs.

If you use your home purely as your personal residence, you cannot deduct the cost of home improvements. These costs are nondeductible personal expenses.
However, this doesn’t mean that home improvements do not have a tax benefit. They can help reduce the amount of taxes you have to pay when you sell your home at a profit. This is because the costs of home improvements are added to the tax basis of your home. “Basis” means the amount of your investment in your home for tax purposes. The greater your basis, the less profit you’ll receive when you sell your home.
